RÅ was founded by Maxwell Rodencal after conducting research at Cornell University in NY for five years on developing efficient applications of waste materials in the construction industry. Maxwell holds a Master’s in Architecture from Cornell where he was awarded the ‘Thesis Prize’ for his developments on Tilt-up rammed earth. See some of the publicly available research articles:

Ilse Svortevik Hviding is a partner at RÅ and is an architect with a Masters in Architecture from Aarhus school of architecture RIBA part 2. Ilse is also in the Circular Architecture and Material Flows research group at AHO.
These products are made in Oslo, from local excess masses. They compare to the material performance of the conventional material palette while offering large reductions in embodied carbon, and providing additional health and environmental benefits.
As a production, contracting, and distribution company, RÅ materialer delivers clay-based solutions for circular construction. With a focus on recycling waste streams and streamlining production processes, our purpose is to incorporate earth-based construction and thereby push the industry in a more sustainable direction.
